The Table de concertation régionale des Îles-de-la-Madeleine welcomes its new coordinator
The Table de concertation régionale (TCR) and the Comité ZIP des Îles are pleased to announce the arrival of Camille Turbide as the TCR's...
The territory of TCR-ÎM is unique and precious: in the heart of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Magdalen Islands archipelago is an environment that is both exceptional and fragile, with its thin dune belts, unique lagoons and aquifers, peat bogs, "furrows", particular geology, freshwater and saltwater ecosystems that are home to a rich and singular biodiversity. This unique position places the Magdalen Islands at the forefront of the challenges posed by climate change. Erosion, submersion, threats to ecosystems... the resilience and sustainability of the community is the key to its future.
Numerous organizations, committees and citizens are already working to preserve this unparalleled wealth and to meet the challenges facing the people of the Magdalen Islands: for access to natural environments, for drinking water management, for community quality of life, for biodiversity protection, for resource development, for the economy and for food... Uniting the representatives of all those with their toes in the water, the TCR is dedicated to supporting their efforts, amplifying their means, developing and sharing their expertise, by putting forward a common vision and a strategy of concerted action.
